"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
Have you ever tried spelunking?
Spelunking is also known as caving that means an exploration of caves, especially as a hobby.
Did you remember my previous hiking experience at Mt. Manalmon wherein we are able to explore their cave which is the Bayukbok Cave.
It is located within the territory of the Biak na Bato Park in San Miguel, Bulacan.
The exploration starts from an uphill trek to the cave and you may notice that the rocks are sharp, rough and unstable so safety is the number one priority.
So today, I would like to share with you the hiking and caving essentials for your future adventures.
HIKING & CAVING ESSENTIALS
* Water - I think this is the most important thing to bring especially on the hot steamy weather during your hiking. Bring at least 2L of water to be able to hydrate yourself fully.
* Food - this is pertaining to food trails/trail mix or food that are easily eaten like nuts, chocolate bar, energy bar, small fruits, etc. This keeps your energy alive all throughout.
* Extra clothing - there comes a time when you will experience a mountain that has a body of water such as lake, falls or even dam that you will cross along the way. It is better to bring extra clothes so you can change up.
* First Aid Supplies - I think this is one of the most important too especially for long trails with sharp rocks & edges. One of your companions should have at least one kit to be able to cater one of you along the journey if something went wrong.
* Sunglasses & Cap - this is very helpful especially for hot weather during your hiking.
* Anything waterproof for gadgets & bags such as Camera, Waterproof Bag, etc.- it is recommended to bring waterproof gadgets & bags so that if ever you drop something on the water or when it rains, your things/gadgets will still turn out fine.
* Headlamp & Flashlight - I think this is most helpful when you go for caving and night hiking.
* Sunscreen - it is important to apply this before going for hiking so your skin will be protected from harmful sun rays.
* Gloves - we should protect and prevent our hands from sharp rocks and also it helps to make your grip better.
How do you find my list of essentials?
Let me know if I am missing something.
Thanks for reading.
Have a great week ahead.
XOXO
