Embracing all that London Has to Offer: A Guide to Planning Your Next Vacation

London is one of the most interesting cities on the planet. Between the amount of history, culture, nightlife, and entertainment, there’s definitely something for everyone and every kind of traveler. However, because of the sheer size of London and the number of places to go, activities to do, and sights to see, it can be overwhelming if you aren’t sure where to start. Here’s a guide to planning the perfect vacation for any kind of trip.
Choose the right time of year to go
There are lots to do in London any time of the year, but depending on your interests and tolerance for crowds of tourists, you might want to pick a specific time of year to visit. If you’re looking to spend quite a bit of time outside, you might want to book your trip during the warmer summer months (May to September is a fairly safe bet for warm weather), although it rains pretty often so pack a raincoat.

If you’re a big fan of Christmas and love all the festivities that go with it, visiting from late November to early January is a must. Winter is a great time to travel to London. Oxford Street is transformed into a magical place, full of lights and beautiful holiday displays (and tourists!), plus there are winter carnivals and markets to enjoy as well.

London is a bustling city, so if you aren’t a big fan of crowds, consider booking your trip during low season, which is in January, February, March, and October. You might be able to find good deals on accommodations and flights too during this time.
Plan what you want to do
Because there is just so much to see and do, you might miss something you really want to get to without an itinerary. You might not even know about an attraction or tour that would interest you until it’s too late. Skip the disappointment and plan your activities in advance. Think about what kinds of adventures you’re interested in. Do you want to try a lot of different food? Do you want to check out the historical sights? Are you interested in the nightlife or theatre culture?

Do some research and get an idea of the kind of itinerary you want to build to help make your trip as stress-free as possible. Check out www.mrhudsonexplores.com for some ideas on where to stay, what to eat, places to see, and things to do. With such a variety, it will be hard not to find something you’ll enjoy.
Book in advance
London is a busy place, so to ensure you’re not going to miss out on the tours or shows you want to experience, it’s a good idea to book in advance. The same goes for booking accommodation, as finding last minute hotels or hostels can be tricky, depending on the time of year you’re visiting. Save yourself the hassle and stress of missing out, plus booking in advance can help you keep an eye on your budget
Get a transit pass
Traveling through London is amazingly easy because of their transit system. Sure, you could take black cabs everywhere, but that can get pricey, and frankly, if you’re from another country, the London Underground is a sight in itself. Get familiar with the underground map, as well as the bus routes near where you’re staying, and consider buying a transit pass or Oyster card if you plan on using it frequently to get around.
