“The georeserve is an area we have been protecting for over fifteen years now. Having to deal with a myriad of illegal loggers, quarries, and others, it has been a challenge, but ultimately a meaningful and fulfilling one. Today, we are excited to share our love for the place with you. We hope that you see something special in it like we did.” -Masungi Geoserve Team

So here is the continuation and the second part of our trail at Masungi Geoserve:
First, we stop over to be mesmerize with the forest and rest in the hanging chairs in front of fire pits that is used for night trail.
Then, after that we proceed to trek again and cross bridges to reach the Family Mountains that they called(Nanay, Tatay & Anak).
Next we use a small climbing rope to reach the top and here are some of my breathtaking pictures overlooking the mountains.
Then again it's time to move by going down the big hammock before proceeding to the 'Ditse, Patak at Duyan'
This is a place that contains of an already existing cactus garden and an air house.
Then we visit the Yungib ni Ruben cave. It is an example of a cave formation that is a part of karst landscape.
In here you need to get up and close with cave characteristics or simply seek a cooler shelter away from the sun.
After that, we proceed to the 'Tatay' mountain which means Father.
The view is breathtaking and feels like you are totally connected with Mother earth.
It is the first and taller one among the peaks and is a natural sculpture and formation composed of several rocks seemingly piled on top of one another.
Then we proceed to 'Nanay' mountain meaning Mother.
It is the second peak features five limestone rock peaks interconnected by bridges.
Next to it is the 'Anak' mountain which means child wherein we are able to go down the biggest hammock they have.
In order to exit the mountain, you need to go down on the 'Bayawak'.
It is named after the largest lizard that can be found within.
You need to climb down the Bayawak resting at the side of a tall rock edifice.
At the bottom, you'll find a playground of hanging funky hammocks and might bring back the childhood memories again called 'Liwasan'.
This is a valley-like area with birth bath and a rest area(Barangay Dahon) and it is designed for relaxation prior to the final ascent back to the visitor sheds.
Then after that 3-4 hours trail, we arrived at the visitor's shed wherein sumptuous sandwiches and fresh juice are waiting for us.
It feel refreshed as they give cold towels to clean us up.
And since we are a group of 10 persons that are booked, they give us a white wine as a gift.
Then finally, we reached the last eyelet of the trail - the 'Sawa'.
It is to make your way back to the staring point by passing through.
Sawa offers spectacular view of the Liwasan Area.
And that's the end of trail.
Here are some of the Masungi Geoserve Policies to take note before going:
The conservation policies revolve around the idea that the georeserve is meant as a sanctuary and home for animal and plant life. Appropriately, as visitors, we must treat the area with respect and conscientiousness. This applies for the entire area – the trail, the parking zones, and all areas fronting and within the georeserve from Kilometer 45 – 48.
They then kindly enjoin their guests to take part in our way of conduct in the area. These are consistently practiced across our management, our members, and our guests:
* Access to the georeserve including the trail is designed for end-use, private groups only. Visits must be requested and arranged ahead of time.
* Absolutely no littering of any kind allowed. This said, please ensure that plastic packaging and all loose objects such as cameras, sunglasses, etc. are secured and will not fall off.
* The park is strictly a non-smoking zone due to the air and health pollution that it causes. Bringing in of smoking paraphernalia falls under this and is also disallowed. Smoking instruments (lighters, cigars, cigarettes, etc.) are to be surrendered at the georeserve entrance, or be kept in the car.
* Noise is not permitted as these may post strain on the area’s wildlife and be disruptive for other guests.
* Should you be fortunate to encounter wildlife, do not feed or touch the animals. This may include monitor lizards, snakes, civet cats, cloud rats, and monkeys, among others. Picking up of flowers, rocks, and other specimens are likewise prohibited. All of these are here for everyone to enjoy. Ensure that permission is sought from the management should this be necessary.
* Omit personal tipping. This ensures non-interference of visits to priority conservation work, and encourages consistency in experience among guest visits. Providing of tips outside the communal bucket may lead to the dismissal of staff involved.
* When going on the discovery trail, always listen and follow the safety instructions that will be shared by park rangers.
The management has the responsibility, and reserves the right to deny access and impose penalties for failure of compliance to the policies above. Please take note that a penalty of PHP 3,000.00 applies for first non-compliance to littering, smoking, and picking/collection of animals, plants, and rocks policies. (c)
